    Olcott Beach Lighthouse

The historic Olcott Lighthouse has been rebuilt and sits stoically on the pier overlooking Lake Ontario. The lighthouse is a landmark that has history dating back to the 1870s as it guided sailing vessels on Lake Ontario to safe harbor. It makes for a lovely photo opportunity and an even better spot to take in a sublime summer sunset with the people you care most about.

    Van Horn Mansion

Built in 1823 by Judge James Van Horn, the Van Horn Mansion was the site of the first ever Town of Newfane town meeting. Now it’s the area’s most prized venue for weddings or other special occasions such as showers and anniversary parties. The Victorian design makes for the perfect romantic backdrop for family and newlywed photos as do the picturesque grounds and verandah. The Van Horn Mansion is also open every Sunday afternoon for guided tours. For the brave, the Mansion has haunted tours as well.

    Ye Old Log Cabin

The Niagara County Pioneer Association was a group dedicated to celebrating and preserving pioneer life on the 19th century "frontier" of Niagara County, NY. Each year this group would host a picnic in the Pine Grove at Krull Park in Olcott Beach, NY. On August 8, 1888; with picnic attendance estimated at 10,000, the Association dedicated a Log Cabin to be their ceremonial home and store and display artifacts.

Thanks to a grant from the Niagara River Greenway and fundraising and support from community volunteers, the cabin was rebuilt. In June 2017, the Ye Olde Log Cabin once again re-opened its door to visitors, functioning as a museum and a tribute to our area's pioneer founders.

The cabin is open on Friday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., June 1 through Sept. 9.

    The Visitor Information Center

Visitor's to Newfane and Olcott can stop by our information center, located on the corner of State Routes 78 and 18 in Olcott, and visit our historic Class N5C steel center cupola caboose. Our dedication to the preservation of history led us to repair and restore a Pennsylvania RR caboose to house maps, flyers and brochures about our town and greater Niagara County.

The PRR Historical Society lists the unit as a PRR, with a serial of 477XXX.

The tourist center is open during daylight hours May through October.

    Asha's Sanctuary

Asha is a storybook sanctuary and home to Albert the Super Cow and his barnyard friends including chickens, a rooster, donkeys, turkeys, a goat, pigs, sheep, a cow, and a young steer. They all live at the sanctuary in peace and surrounded by love. Asha provides a safe place where people can meet these animals, establishing long lasting emotional relationships. These human-animal connections allow people to see these sweet, gentle animals as friends and not food, helping them to make the compassionate decision to go vegan.

Located in the heart of Niagara's orchards and vineyards on 27-acres of land, Asha is the perfect setting to begin the magic when people meet farmed animals for the first time and see how friendly, emotional and intelligent they are. The animals tell their story - a very simple one of just wanting to be loved. They tell it with a loving kiss, a warm nudge, and a still look that captures hearts and changes minds forever.

The Sanctuary seeks to connect like-minded individuals and businesses as well as the vegan-curious through the Buffalo Vegan Society, a community education program. Asha also provides support and encouragement by offering vegan cooking classes through Albert Super's Kitchen program.

Asha has an educational center that houses a commercial kitchen, viewing area for an introductory/educational film on standard practices in animal agriculture, a gift shop, educational books and videos, handicapped accessible bathrooms and outdoor patios.

Asha Sanctuary's future vision is to be a safe place for people to enjoy and explore nature by providing hiking trails on our 27 acre preserved forest.

The Sanctuary is located at 2969 Coomer Road, Newfane, New York. Contact the Sancturay for information about guided tours, classes and special events!
